Community Stories on Film: Born & Bred Comes to The Big Screen
On Sunday 25 January 2026 from 3–5 pm, Windrose Rural Media Trust invites locals and visitors alike to an Archive Film Show at Comrades Hall, Broadwindsor — a relaxed, welcoming afternoon celebrating village life through film.
The programme brings together old films from the local area with more recent footage from Broadwindsor, including the short film created as part of Windrose’s Born & Bred project. It’s a rare chance to see familiar places and faces on screen and to enjoy the continuity between past and present that only community archives can offer.
The Born & Bred Project
Born & Bred is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: capturing the lived experiences of people who were born and raised in Broadwindsor. Through recorded conversations, shared memories and collaborative film-making, the project has created a portrait of village life shaped by work, family, tradition and change. The resulting film forms a key part of this screening and reflects Windrose’s long-standing commitment to preserving rural voices and everyday histories.
More Than a Film Screening
This is very much a community event. Alongside the films there will be tea, coffee and cake, and a raffle, with proceeds going towards the upkeep of Comrades Hall. Entry is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring cash for refreshments and the raffle.
Whether you’re a long-time resident, recently arrived, or simply curious about the stories that shape rural communities, this special afternoon offers a warm welcome and a shared experience.
All are welcome. Come for the films, stay for the conversation — and enjoy an afternoon where Broadwindsor’s past and present meet on the big screen.
